This week’s Friday Freebie is another set of Photoshop brushes. You can use these brushes several ways. One way is with the eraser tool and literally “erase away” the edges of your digital paper to create a TORN EDGE look. Change the size of the brush if it is too large for your resolution or paper size. You can FLIP the “X” or “Y” component of the brush if the brush isn’t long enough. That way, the ends will meet perfectly.
About the brushes: Part of my personal collection of Photoshop brushes.
Copyright and Usage: Feel free to use these brushes in your own art, personal or commercial usage is fine. No credit is needed but a mention or a link back to my website here at Kary Dunham Designs would be great.

This week’s photo is another PNG file to use in your digital scrapbooking or other digital collage work. Simply download the file and open in Photoshop. Using the LASSO tool or either of the MARQUEE tools, select the letter or character you want to use in your art and copy/paste your selection into your new file. The image is a PNG file with a transparent background so using it in your own art is as simple as can be. No muss-no fuss.

I found this in one of my old journals. I read it and thought, “Wow, where did SHE go?” Time to go find her!
- Makes art everyday
- Writes everything down
- Takes photos
- Collects everything
- Shops eBay for old photos and vintage ephemera
- Doodles – draws – scribbles…all the time
- Knows that her art is good
- Reads and looks at other people’s stuff
- Draws inspiration from a variety of sources
- Always carries a journal with her
- Always carries a camera with her
- Always carries a variety of art materials with her
- Uses them whenever she can
- Scouts magazines and books for inspiration – everything is potentially inspiration
- Creates a portfolio of her work
- Purchases the latest versions of Photoshop, Flash and Paint
- Buys an archival quality inkjet printer
- Cleans her studio from time to time
- Laughs out loud
- Feels free as a bird
- Loves her life
- Loves her job
- Finds great (and cheap) sources for antique ephemera, photos, ledgers, journals, letters, etc.
- Because there is nothing more fun than spending a day going through “junk” for potential collage art
- Every and anything is potentially something that can be used for collage art so…
- Look at everything through artist’s eyes
- Isn’t afraid to take risks
- Isn’t afraid to make a mistake
- Isn’t afraid to be silly
- Is often-times silly
- Sings out loud – even if off-key
- Does the jig or a little dance just because
- Smiles often
- Giggles even more
- Celebrates everything
- Inspires others
- Is inspired by others
- Loves herself
- Loves someone else even more
- Has boundless energy
- Is never perfect
- Doesn’t want to be perfect
- Travels the world
- Explores her own neighborhood, as though seeing it for the first time
- Is never invisible
